Best Views in Warsaw: 12 Spots for a Spectacular Panorama
Warsaw’s modern skyline — a cluster of glass towers flanking the Palace of Culture and Science — is best understood from a height. The views from above reveal the city’s unusual geography: the Vistula dividing old Warsaw from Praga, the flat Mazovian plain extending to the horizon, and the contrast between rebuilt baroque and glass-and-steel modernity.
These are the 12 best viewpoints in the city, from the iconic to the overlooked.
1. Palace of Culture Observation Terrace (30th Floor)
The definitive Warsaw view. The observation terrace at the top of the Palace of Culture and Science (Pałac Kultury i Nauki) sits at 114 metres — not the roof, but the highest public access point in the building. The 360-degree panorama takes in the Old Town skyline to the north, the Vistula and Praga to the east, the city’s modern towers to the west, and the flat plain extending in every direction.
Entry: 30 PLN approximately (via Highline Warsaw bar on the 30th floor, or the observation terrace access)
Hours: Daily, approximately 09:00–23:00 (bar open later on weekends)
Best time: Late afternoon for warm directional light; sunset in summer (21:00+) is spectacular
Address: Plac Defilad 1 (east entrance for the observation lift)
See the Palace of Culture guide.

The bell tower of St. Anne’s Church on Krakowskie Przedmieście gives a privileged view over the Royal Route, the Old Town roofscape, and the Royal Castle. It is lower than the Palace of Culture (around 50 metres) but the proximity to the Old Town provides an intimacy the taller viewpoints lack — you can make out individual building details.
Entry: ~10 PLN
Hours: Typically 10:00–18:00 in summer (variable in winter)
Best angle: Northeast for the Old Town Market Square; south for the Royal Route perspective
3. Highline Warsaw Bar (30th Floor, Palace of Culture)
The Highline Warsaw bar occupies the same 30th floor as the observation terrace and serves as both a rooftop bar and a view destination. Seating is available on an outdoor terrace on clear days. Drinks are expensive but the view is included.
See: Warsaw rooftop bars guide for full details.
4. Copernicus Science Centre Roof Garden
The rooftop garden of the Copernicus Science Centre (Centrum Nauki Kopernik) at ul. Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie 20 is free with museum entry and gives a river-level perspective unavailable from the inland viewpoints. The view east toward Praga and south along the Vistula toward Wilanów includes the wild, undeveloped east bank in the foreground.
Entry: Included with Copernicus Science Centre ticket (40–55 PLN)
Best time: Late afternoon in summer for Vistula reflections
See the Copernicus Science Centre guide.
5. Most Świętokrzyski Bridge at Sunrise
The Most Świętokrzyski (Holy Cross Bridge), closed to vehicles and open to pedestrians and cyclists, provides the cleanest panoramic view of the Warsaw skyline from across the Vistula. The full modern skyline — Palace of Culture, Złota 44, Glass towers — is visible from a kilometre’s distance.
Entry: Free
Best time: Sunrise in summer (around 4:30–5:30) for near-deserted bridge and reflected light
Getting there: Walk from Powiśle riverfront eastward; or cross by bike using Veturilo
6. Warsaw Uprising Museum Roof
The roof terrace of the Warsaw Uprising Museum at ul. Grzybowska 79 has a partial view over the Wola district — a different perspective showing the flat residential landscape west of the centre. Access is via the museum’s rooftop memorial area. Free with museum entry (30 PLN; free Thursdays).
Not the most spectacular view in Warsaw, but combining it with the museum visit costs nothing extra.
7. Skarpa Warszawska (The Escarpment)
The Warsaw Escarpment (Skarpa Warszawska) is a natural cliff that runs along the west bank of the Vistula, rising 15–20 metres above the river level. The elevated edge — accessible from the Ujazdów Castle gardens, the Łazienki hillside, and the Royal Route promenade — gives a free, long-distance view east over the Vistula and toward Praga.
Best access points:
- Ujazdów Castle gardens (south of Łazienki, free outdoor access)
- The terrace behind the National Museum on Al. Jerozolimskie
- The Skarpa terrace behind the Holy Cross Church on Krakowskie Przedmieście
Entry: Free at all points
8. Wilanów Palace Terrace
The terrace extending from the back of Wilanów Palace looks south over the formal baroque garden — geometric patterns in box hedge, fountains, and statuary extending to the tree line. This is not a city panorama but a garden panorama, and a very good one.
Entry: Requires park entry (15 PLN) plus palace tour for full terrace access
Best time: Morning when the garden is lit from the east
See Wilanów.
9. Belweder Palace Terrace
The Belweder Palace — just south of Łazienki Park on ul. Belwederska — has a terrace overlooking the Łazienki grounds and the escarpment edge. Access is occasionally restricted (it functions as a presidential residence), but the gardens are often open.
Check current public access status before visiting.
10. Hotel Sky Bars (Various)
Multiple hotels in central Warsaw have high-floor bars with city views. The Marriott on Al. Jerozolimskie (29th floor) and the DoubleTree by Hilton on ul. Złota both have bars with significant views. See the Warsaw rooftop bars guide for details.
11. The Praga Bank Looking West
Standing on the Praga (east) bank of the Vistula and looking west gives the classic Warsaw skyline photograph — the Palace of Culture flanked by glass towers, with the Vistula in the foreground. The embankment between Most Świętokrzyski and Most Gdański on the Praga side is the best access point.
Entry: Free. Walk across any of the central bridges.
Best time: Late afternoon when the western sun illuminates the palace spires
12. Saxon Garden Escarpment Wall
The western edge of the Saxon Garden, where the garden meets Ogród Krasińskich, has a series of elevated stone terraces from which the Palace of Culture is visible above the tree line. Not a wide-angle panorama, but a composed urban view that works well photographically.
Entry: Free
