Things to Do in Łódź

Łódź is an easy day trip from Warsaw — about seventy-five minutes by train — and one of Poland's most underrated cities. The former textile factories that once employed tens of thousands have been converted into Manufaktura, a sprawling arts-and-retail complex with museums, galleries, and a cinema. Piotrkowska Street, running nearly five kilometres through the city, is the main pedestrian artery and one of the longest commercial streets in Europe. Łódź has also reinvented itself as a street-art capital and the home of Poland's celebrated film school, whose alumni include Polański and Kieślowski.
