Things to Do in Lublin

Lublin, reachable in under two hours by train from Warsaw, is one of eastern Poland's most rewarding and least-crowded historic cities. The old town clusters around a Gothic-Renaissance castle and a well-preserved market square lined with baroque townhouses. Lublin was for centuries a centre of Jewish scholarship and commerce, and that heritage is felt throughout the Podzamcze district. Just five kilometres from the city centre, the Majdanek concentration camp memorial is one of the most intact Nazi extermination sites in Europe and a sobering essential for understanding Poland's wartime history.
